What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address and the browser user agent to help detect spam.

An anonymised string created from your e-mail address (also called a hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service if you use it. The privacy policy page can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your response is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your response.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload images to the site, you should avoid uploading images containing EXIF GPS location data. Site visitors can download the images from the site and view the location data.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can indicate whether your name, e-mail address and website may be stored in a cookie. We do this for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in this information again for a new comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we store a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with

How long we store your data

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of that comment is saved forever, so we can automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of having to moderate them.

For users registered on our website (if applicable), we also store personal data in their user profile. All users can view, change or delete their personal data at any time (the user name cannot be changed). Website administrators can also access and edit this information.

What rights you have regarding your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an export file of your personal data held by us, including any information you have provided to us. You may also request that we delete any personal data we have about you, which does not include any information we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Comments from visitors may go through an automated spam detection service.
